When Your Body is Still Streaming in Survival Mode

When Your Body is Still Streaming in Survival Mode

Let's Chat!

You know when you’ve had a long day and all you want to do is go home, sit down, and watch your favorite show?

You finally get comfy, grab the remote… and nothing loads.

Buffering. Freezing. Lagging.

So you go reset the internet.

Because without internet, none of the apps or shows work right,  no matter how good the TV is.

And honestly, our bodies kind of work the same way.

All the things we want to work such as sleep, digestion, hormones, energy, emotions, focus are similar to the shows we’re trying to stream.

But your nervous system is the connection running all of it.

And when you’ve had to stay strong, keep the peace, or just push through for a long time… your body learns to stay on alert.

Sometimes that looks like anxiety or always feeling on edge.

Sometimes it’s shutting down or going numb.

Sometimes its always having to be the strong one

Or sometimes it’s people-pleasing... staying quiet just to keep the peace.

Fight. Flight. Freeze. Fawn.

And even when life does get quiet, the body is sometimes the last to get the memo. It just stays on alert to help you get through.

So you might feel tired but unable to relax.

Overwhelmed by small things.

Or you may have gut issues, health decline or weight fluctuations.

And here’s the part most people don’t realize.

Breathing exercises and things like meditation or slowing down are great tools. They really do help in the moment. The nervous system "touches" every part of you

But real change happens when we get to the root of what’s keeping your body in that episode of survivor so your nervous system finally gets the message that it’s safe to turn that survival switch off.

And real life doesn’t exactly let us hit pause while we figure it out.

Because when the body finally feels safe, things just start working better again.

Sleep improves.

Energy comes back online.

You start feeling healthier, more balanced, more regulated.

Things just start feeling easier again.

And one day you notice…

you’re just watching the show — laughing,  getting pulled into the story...

maybe still secretly hoping Alex and Cristina make their way back to Grey Sloan someday (yes… I might be projecting a little here)…

and feeling personally offended when the season ends on a cliffhanger.

Because your body finally knows it doesn’t have to live in survival mode anymore.
